Linda Jane Carey

Funeral services for Linda Jane Carey will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 1 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Father Jofin George officiating. Burial will follow in Pearl River Community Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 12 noon at the family residence, 10511 Road 367 Philadelphia (Hope Community) until departure McClain-Hays Chapel on Thursday, November 2, 2023. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Carey, 75, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, October 28, 2023. Linda was born and raised in Neshoba County and graduated from Choctaw Central High School and later attended Haskell Jr. College in Lawrence, KS. She was employed as a secretary for Choctaw Tribal Schools and later in the call center for Pearl River Resort where she retired. She loved to read, do beadwork, pow-wow’s, flea markets and in her younger days playing softball and basketball. She especially enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Mrs. Carey was Catholic by faith. Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Carey of Philadelphia; daughters, Tracy Shoemake (Greg) of Conehatta and Taryn Stell (David) of Durant, OK; sons, Charles Eugene Carey (Doreen) of Philadelphia and Michael Shane Carey of Talladega, AL; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Velma Henry of Philadelphia; brothers, Dorman Sam and Norman Sam of Philadelphia; several nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. Tubby and Mary Lou Sam; step-father, Ellis Sam; sister, Henrietta Thomas; brother, Thurman Sam. Pallbearers, Braden Carey, Euatan Stell, Brandon Stell, Chayton Carey, Bobby Henry, Ronnie Henry and Jeremy Henry. Honorary Pallbearers, David Stell, Jr., Caillou Carey, Justice Williams, James Stell, Joey Thomas, Justin Thomas and Demarcus Wilson.
