A graveside service will be on Monday, January 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Gomillion officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of departure. Mr. Ward, 74, of Union, died Sunday, January 8, 2023. A native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County, he was a graduate of Neshoba Central High School. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Yates and B&G Equipment until he retired. He was owner/trainer and driver for over 30 years as a harness racer, and a member of the United States Trotting Association. He raced mainly at the Neshoba County Fair, but traveled and raced in Fayetteville, TN, Lexington, KY, and Paducah, KY. He enjoyed spending time with family and dancing on the weekends. Survivors include daughter, Stephanie Peebles and her husband Mark, son Justin Ward and his wife Kelly, all of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Kyle Peebles and his wife Holly, Maggie Anderson and her husband Preston, John Taylor Ward, and Miles Henry Ward; great-granddaughter Harper James Anderson; sisters, MaDonna Goldman and Sheila Gomillion, both of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. Ward in death were his wife, Wanda Ward; and parents, Marla & Wilma Ward. Pallbearers are Kyle Peebles, Preston Anderson, John Taylor Ward, Miles Henry Ward, Richie Goldman, Jeremy Morgan, and Landon Beason. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to be sent to Blair Batson Children’s Hospital.
