Services for Mr. Ken Spears will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at McClain-Hays Chapel. Bro. Mike Skinner, Bro. Dudley Winstead, Bro. Richard Burks and Leake County Sheriff Randy W. Atkinson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 9:00 pm, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at McClain-Hays. Interment will be in Linwood Cemetery. Mr. Spears was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County. He graduated from Neshoba Central High School in 1978, after graduation, he worked with Breland Building Supply for four years then began driving a truck for Carlton Oil Company until 2000. He began his career in law enforcement in 2000 as Constable Place II until his retirement in 2020. During his service as constable he also drove a school bus for the Neshoba Central School System which he enjoyed and he loved the kids he encountered during this time. He was a founding member of the Linwood Fire Department in 1986 where he served as a fire fighter and board president. He was a member of Linwood Baptist Church and was a master mason-Henry Clay Lodge #485. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lanette Spears of Union; two sons, Wesley Spears(Brandi) of Union and Nathan Spears(Reagan) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Chase and Colin Spears; brothers, James A. Hinton of Tuscaloosa, AL, Virgil Spears(Janis), Larry Spears and Gerald Spears all of Union; great nieces, Corrigan Spears and Emma Appling; nephews, Jeffrey Hinton(Brandi), Chris Spears and Jonathan Earl Spears(Nicole); great nephews, Jacob Spears and Grayson Spears; Grady Hinton, Mason Hinton, Tyler Hinton and Tucker Hinton ; great-great nephew, Colton Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.V. and Annie Mae Spears, sister-in-law, Marlene Hinton. Pallbearers are Donnie Adkins, Ralph Sciple, Tommy Waddell, Johnny Barnett, Steven "Smiley" McMillan and Tommy Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Walton, Guy Nowell, Terry Jordan, Dale Joyner, Tony Mathes, Mike Lewis and Keith McCrory.
