Services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Hope Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to services at Hope Baptist Church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Joyce was born in 1953 in Leake County. She was a longtime resident of Philadelphia growing up in the Hope Community. Joyce graduated from the Matty Hersee School of Nursing in 1974. She worked in multiple nursing positions before starting her career as a registered nurse with Mississippi State Department of Health. She carried multiple roles before retiring as Epidemiologist Nurse after almost 30 years with the department. Even during this time she continued to serve the community as a registered nurse at the Neshoba County Hospital, ER, and nursing home, as well as multiple nursing homes in the local area.Joyce was married to Tommy Weir for 42 years. They have two children and four grandsons, and Joyce was a constant presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, no matter the distance. She traveled near and far to ensure those little boys knew her and each other. Joyce was a fierce force of nature. She was a firm believer in Jesus and the love and bond of family, and a longtime member of Hope Baptist Church. To all those she encountered she could be firm and tough, but kind and fair, all at the same time. She was a loyal Mom, sister, and friend, always striving to support and do the right thing in any circumstance. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Weir; mother, Marion White, and father, Nelson White, Sr. She is survived byher daughter, Denise (Mike) Navicky; son, Brian (Christy) Weir; grandchildren, Hayden Navicky, Thomas Navicky, Max Weir and Ben Weir; brothers, Nelson White, Jr., Buddy White and Roy White. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and their families, all of whom she loved as her own children and grandchildren. Pallbearers are Sam White, Wade White, William White, Kevin White, Jeremy Partridge and Dagen Clark.
