Joy Thornton Yerian, 67, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 11th in Madden, MS. Joy was born on March 24, 1953, in Belzoni, MS. She collected everything about Gone with the Wind and Thomas Kincaid. She loved playing the piano, needlepoint, and was an avid animal lover. She worked most of her life in Dallas, TX. After moving to Mississippi she managed Wheel-In Grocery in Carthage and then worked at WIC in Philadelphia until retirement. Survivors include siblings, Fred Thornton, Audrey Enlow, Hilton (Margarita) Thornton, all of Madden, MS, Mark (Robin) Thornton of Palestine, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Yerian; father, Howard Curtis Thornton; and mother, Odessa Blackmon; brothers, Doug, Stanley, and Miller; sisters, Beatrice and Gaye. Joy was a free spirit and an awesome daughter, sister, wife and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
