John W. Elliott

Services for John W. Elliott will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018, at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Gene Higginbotham and Rev. Bill Raines officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Neshoba County.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2018, from 5 p. m. until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Mr. Elliott, 87, of Union, died Monday, August 20, 2018, at Neshoba County General Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of the House Community of Neshoba County.  He was a retired iron worker and a member of Iron Workers Union Local #623.  He enjoyed cooking at the House Community Center and Annual Wildlife Jamboree; and also loved to fish and dance.  Mr. Elliott was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in the House Community.  Survivors include four daughters, Jewell Parks (Rocky) of Philadelphia, Mary Miles of House, Cheryl Wilkerson (Jerry) of Philadelphia, and Karen Manning (Tim) of Mars Hill; six grandchildren, Rick Parks, Chris Stevens, Joni Glenn, Josh Herrington, Jamie Luman and Jessica Barnett; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Parks, Kinlyn Lagraff, Braydon Glenn, Lexi Stevens, Kameron Barrier, Joshlynne Barrier, Daycy Barrier and Parker Herrington; great-great-grandchild, Riley Lagraff; sister, Celia Stokes and brother, Gerald Elliott, both of House; and a number of niece, nephews and families. Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by wife, Betty Elliott; grandson, Ben Myers; great-grandson, Cal David Parks; parents, Cortez and Jewel Lee Elliott; and several brothers and sisters.
