Graveside services for John S. Holley will be held Friday, July 24, 2020, at 10:00 a. m. from Henry’s Chapel Cemetery in Neshoba County with Rev. Adrian Holley and Elder Clifton Jones officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Holley, 98, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at his home. A native and longtime resident of Neshoba County, he managed A & P Grocery Store for over 25 years; and served four terms as supervisor of Neshoba County. Mr. Holley served in the U. S. Army during WWII. His duties were guarding the Potomac River in Washington, D. C. He had a great love for deer hunting and the Holley Hunting Club. He also loved to squirrel hunt, and was a great storyteller and prankster. Mr. Holley had a special place in his heart for children. Survivors include wife, Bobbie J. Holley; children, Merle Coats, Guy Holley (Rita), Pam Fulton (David); stepchildren, Barry Irons (Betty), Kay Duett (Stuart), Patti Rickles; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Holley was preceded in death by father and mother, Rufus David and Julia Hodges Holley; first wife, Helen Edwards Holley; brothers, Harvey Holley, Leon Holley, Percy Holley, and Bill Holley; sisters, Ruth Benson and Nellie Allen; and granddaughter, Penelope Coats. Pallbearers are Mark Coats, Hunter Holley, John Lofton, Trent Rickles, Jamie Rickles, and McKay Duett. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Ray Benson, Keith Lillis, and Billy Land. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital, or St. Jude.
