Services for Jerry Wayne “Bud” Waddell will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019, at 11 a. m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Chester Carlisle and Rev. Bill Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2019, from 5:00 p. m. until 8:00 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Waddell, 68, of Philadelphia, died Monday, November 11, 2019, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was born and raised in Neshoba County, MS, and graduated from Philadelphia High School. He later attended Clark College to study the Word of God. He was married to Shirley Tucker Waddell for 26 years. Bud loved to minister to people about how he was a Christian and how much he loved the Lord. He was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school. He loved his great-grandsons and taught them how to run a weed eater and drive his truck. He also enjoyed carrying them to the park. He attended ECCC in the auto body program, and was a longtime auto body man in Philadelphia. Survivors include wife, Shirley Waddell of Philadelphia, MS; daughter, Tammy Thrash of Philadelphia, MS; grandchildren, Candy Comans (Russell) of Sebastopol, MS, Rachael Thrash (Johnnie Stokes) of Philadelphia, MS; great-grandsons, Hayden Comans, Andrew Comans, Justin Wayne Thrash, Andrew Thrash; sister, Pat Bradley (Raymond); brothers, Harold Waddell and Johnny Waddell, both of Philadelphia, MS, Rayburn Waddell (Wanda) of Dallas, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Waddell was preceded in death by brothers, James Waddell, Willard Waddell, Leonard Waddell, Glen Waddell, David Waddell; and sister, Sue Ellen Waddell. In lieu of flowers family requests all memorials be made to Blair Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, or a favorite charity.
