Jeanene Burns Porter

Services for Jeanene Porter will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 1 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Porter and Dr. Mike Carr officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a. m. until time of service at McClain-Hays Funeral Home.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Porter, 89, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, December 16, 2018. She was a native of Neshoba County and longtime resident of Philadelphia, MS. She formerly worked at Wells-Lamont in Philadelphia and was owner/operator of Jeanene’s Beauty Shop in Philadelphia for 50 years.  Mrs. Porter was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was also active in Senior Adult Ministry.  She loved gardening and her flowers; and she was very involved in her community.  Survivors include daughter, Tommye Lynn Porter (Jimmy) of Anguilla, MS, and Joey Langston (Rocky) of Edinburg, MS; grandchildren, Nikki P. Burke, Maribeth P. Williams (Ches), Trey Langston (Emily), Trevor Langston (Cassidy); great-grandchildren, John-Porter and Andrew Burke, Levi and Lane Langston; step-son Rickey Porter and step-daughter Terrisa Deutsch and their families; one brother, George Myers (Normalyn) of Ft. Smith, AR; several nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by husbands, Amos Burns in 1986, and William T. Porter in 2018; parents, E. W. “Bood” and Sarah Myers; and sister, Jean Perry. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research, or your favorite charity.
