Visitation will be held 12:00 noon on Saturday until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Charlotte “Jan” May Partin was born on February 20, 1947. She went home to live with her Heavenly Father on February 12, 2023. So much happened between these two dates. Jan was born to Cook and Betty May and grew up in Philadelphia, MS. She was the oldest of three siblings. As Jan grew up in Philadelphia she was surrounded by her grandparents and cousins. As a young girl she enjoyed taking care of her many animals, cooking with her grandmothers, gardening with her grandfather, Tom May, and learning about business from Pop (D. O. Brantley). She was always delighted to travel with her cousins, aunts, and grandmother on their many adventures together. She enjoyed dance and being a cheerleader for the Philadelphia Tornadoes. Her biggest passion was playing basketball for the Lady Tornadoes. After graduation she attended Mississippi State College for Women and was excited to be a “MUW girl”. She received a BS in Merchandising and Home Economics on August 18, 1968. Upon graduation she became a buyer for McRea’s. Jan had an eye for fashion and enjoyed making her own patterns, and could stay up all night sewing. She later pursued a career in family child services with the Neshoba County Welfare Department. After discovering her interest for families and children, she decided to get a degree in education. Her deep compassion for children led her to dedicate her life to others and their needs. She lived out the rest of her career, over twenty years, teaching. She retired from Louise Durham in Mena, Arkansas. She taught many things, but she was devoted to teaching children to read and finding their curiosity in science. Jan was active in the First Presbyterian Church. She believed in the advancement of women in their education and motivating them to fulfill their aspirations. She worked for this through her efforts in Philanthropic Education Organization (P. E. O.). Jan combined her career with marriage and children. Her dedication to her family was felt and seen by everyone around her. She loved expressing her love through her culinary delights. During special occasions her loved ones didn’t get one cake or pie. Each person got their favorite dish or dessert. She worked hard at making everyone feel special and welcomed. Her heart overflowed with love for the people around her. We will miss her. May she rest in peace and rise in glory; and may light perpetually shine upon her, as she did for so many that have gone before her and those who wait to join her. Jan is survived by her daughter Brandye Posey Drager and her husband Barry; daughter Emmye Partin Tiemann and her husband Christian; her son Justin and his wife Ashley. Mama Jan has five beautiful grandchildren, Lane Daniel (fiancée’ Bonnie), Georgia and Cook Drager, Brantley Tiemann, and Aubrey Partin. She is also survived by her brothers, Keith and Prentis Parker; nephew Zen Parker; and nieces, Lanna Parker Williams and Lara Kelle Parker. She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Nicky Posey of five years and Robert Partin of 43 years; her father, Cook May; mother, Betty May Parker; and stepfather, Leonard Parker; grandparents, Ruby and D. O. Brantley, and Ruby and Tom May.
