James Prentiss "Jimmy" Thomas

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. James Prentiss "Jimmy" Thomas passed away on March 3, 2023 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. Mr. Thomas was a native of Neshoba County and spent the early part of his life in Laurel where he graduated from R. H. Watkins High School. After graduation he moved back home to Neshoba County. During his working years he was employed as a train dispatcher and also enjoyed working on his farm and raising cattle. He enjoyed playing golf and going fishing especially with his family and friends. Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Lee Thomas of Philadelphia; son, John Abe Thomas of Philadelphia; his mother, Gwen Thomas of Laurel; sisters, Kay(Earl) McNiel and Carolyn(David) Dean both of Houston, TX; ; sister-in-law, Judy Mason of Philadelphia; nieces and nephews, Wayne McNiel, Lacey McNiel, Jennifer Dean(Bryan)Aulds, Thomas Dean, Allison Dean, Joseph Dean, Yancey(Reed) Herrington and Corby(Kiley)Goforth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Robin Clark Thomas and his father, James S. Thomas.
