Services for James O. Branning will be held Friday, June 21, 2019, at 11 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Randy Caldwell and Rev. James Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow in Tucker Cemetery in DeKalb, MS. Visitation will be held Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Branning, 80, of DeKalb, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at his home. He was a native of Kemper County and a graduate of Lynville High School in Kemper County. He served in the U. S. Army as a Vietnam veteran and retired as a Sgt. 1st Class. Mr. Branning was a member of DeKalb Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Elveen Branning of DeKalb; daughter, Christy Jacobs (Terry) of Bozeman, Montana, stepdaughter, Teresa Ford of Mathiston; stepsons, Rickey Fulton (Ruth) of Preston, Calvin Fulton (Kerri) of Mize; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nell Townsend of Meridian, Grace Robinson (Buddy) of DeKalb, Wanda Wasson of Philadelphia; brothers, Bobby Branning (Tootsie) of Philadelphia, Jackie Branning (Peggy) of Preston, Keith Branning (Gloria) of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Branning was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Ruth Branning. Pallbearers are Kevin Robinson, Thaddeus Davis, Logan Davis, Mark Branning, Colton Fulton and Christopher Leggett.
