Services for James L. “Tater” May will be held Friday, February 22, 2019, at 11 a. m. at McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Mitchell McDonald and Rev. Mike Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooks Chapel Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 5 until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. May, 77, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Forestdale Community in Neshoba County. He retired from Weyerhaeuser after cruising timber for many years, and later worked as weighmaster in the scale house. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. May was a member of Cooks Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include the mother of his children and lifelong friend, Linda Sue Roundtree of Philadelphia; daughter, Angie (Scott) Skinner of Philadelphia; son, Robert May of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jessica, Devin, Dylan (Breanna) Skinner and Hayden May; great-grandchild, Kinsley Skinner; brother, Charles “Punk” (Sherby) May; sisters, Carolyn (Son) Williamson, Sara Ann (Frankie) Luke, Shirley (Devon) Sharp, all of Philadelphia; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. May was preceded in death by parents, Vardaman and Virgie Lee May; and brothers, Joe May, Tommy May and Jack May.
