James Ardell "Buddy" Joyner, Sr.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from Pine Grove Cemetery in the House Community with Rev. Rusty Walton officiating. James Ardell Joyner, Sr. passed peacefully from this earth into the arms of his dear Savior on Saturday, January 2, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. Buddy, as he was known to his immediate family, was born to loving parents Quinn and Iva Mae Reynolds Joiner on January 25, 1923. He was one of four brothers and three sisters who grew up together in the House Community of Neshoba County, Mississippi, blessed to be surrounded by a host of close-knit, extended family. James proudly served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps in India and the South Pacific. Soon after his discharge, he moved to Jackson and met and married Sallie Pepper. James and Sallie made Jackson their home, where they worked, raised their children, and actively served in their church, Parkway Baptist. After his retirement from Sears, James and Sallie enjoyed many years raising cattle on their farm in Copiah County. James was preceded in death by his wife Sallie, his parents, two sisters, Mazelle Watkins and Lillian Rickles and one brother, Arlo Joiner. He is survived by his children, Jim Joyner (Carol) of Denver, CO, Jessie Joyner (Lupe) of Colorado Springs, CO and Julie Sadler (Bill) of Dallas, TX, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, two brothers, Junior Joyner, of Union, Billy Joyner (Audine), of Union, and a sister, Nanette Winstead (Wayne), of Union, and a host of nieces and nephews. “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” Revelation 14:13
