Jack B. Rowell

Services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. from Beat Line Baptist Church with Bro. Ben McDaniel and Bro. Larry Savell officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Interment will be in Beat Line Baptist Cemetery. Born on September 17, 1934, in Newton County, MS, Jack B. Rowell peacefully passed away at 12:43 a.m. on June 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He served with honor in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Pursuing his education, Mr. Rowell earned his Bachelor's degree from Southern Mississippi and his Master's degree from Mississippi State. As a beloved and respected Mathematics teacher, he dedicated 31 years to shaping young minds, earning the endearing nickname "Pop Rowell" from his adoring students. Following retirement, he embarked on a fulfilling second career of 18 years at Saxon Publishing. Active in every facet of church life at Beat Line Baptist Church, Mr. Rowell engaged in choir membership, adult Sunday School teaching, women's softball coach, bible school direction, and more. Outside of his devotion to the church, he found joy in farming, tending to gardens, and passionately following Ole Miss athletics, particularly football. Mr. Rowell is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 70 years and 2 months, Mary Alice Rowell, along with their daughter Judy Rowell Flake (George). Sadly, he was preceded in death by their daughter Mary Katherine Rowell. He leaves behind three grandchildren, Rebecca "Becky" White Role (Robert), Robert "Chris" White (Mandy), and Thomas Hays White (Amy). Additionally, he celebrated the presence of ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Mr. Rowell, with his strength and unwavering commitment to family, will be deeply missed by all who loved and cherished him. Pallbearers are Jimmy Dale, George Role, Ryan Morgan, Chandler Sanderson and Danny Cain. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Bates and the Deacons of Beat Line Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers family request all memorials be made to Beat Line Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
