Funeral services for Jack Roland Land will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Dennis Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in Coldwater Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Land, 95, of Philadelphia, died on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, MS. He was a native of Philadelphia and longtime resident of Neshoba County. He retired from U. S. Motors, Philadelphia. He formerly worked for Indianola Motor Company, Leland Motor Company, and Philadelphia Motor Company, all Ford dealerships. Mr. Land served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He served in Japan after the atomic bomb drop. For a time, while stationed in Hawaii, had the daily responsibility of raising the flag over the sunken U. S. S. Arizona in Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Philadelphia Masonic Lodge. Mr. Land was a member of the Southside Methodist Church. Survivors include sons, Mike (Sheila) Land and Brad (Connie) Land, all of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Chris Land, Nicole Land Kilpatrick, Jason Jack Land, and Breana Land; great-grandchildren, Chloe Land, Dillan Land, Elijah and Isaiah Kilpatrick. Preceding Mr. Land in death were wife, Hazel J. Kennedy Land, and grandchild, Christie Brook Land. Pallbearers are Keith McCrory, Ike Latimer, Tony Stone, Billy Land, Chris Kilpatrick, and Chris Land. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Jack Land, Dillan Land, Elijah Kilpatrick, and Isaiah Kilpatrick.
