Graveside services for Ms. Hilda will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 1 pm, at Cedarlawn Cemetery with Rev. Byron Howell officiating. Visitation will be held at Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 11 am until departure. Hilda Frances Laney Cheatham of Philadelphia MS departed this life on May 18, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born in 1933 in Greenville MS to Lamar and Emma Laney. After marrying the love of her life, Mrs. Cheatham resided mostly in Philadelphia. She was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church while she was able. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, receiving her 50-year certificate. She was a homemaker for many years, noted for her sewing skills and jelly-making. After her children were older, she went to work at Clark’s department store where she worked her way up to the position of manager. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert (Bobby) Cheatham, her parents, her sister Dorothy Thrasher of Philadelphia, two brothers, Rudolph Laney of Greenville, and Rudon Laney of New Albany, one grandson, Blake Tidwell of Union and one son-in-law, George Tidwell of Union. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Tidwell of Union and son, Robert “Rock” (Nancy) Cheatham of Columbia, one sister-in-law Christine Laney of North Carolina, seven grandchildren, Matt Cheatham of Decatur, Mark Cheatham and Hayley Knight, both of Petal, Megan Parker of Union, Tye Whitfield of Mobile AL, Tina Andrews of Columbia and 14 great- grandchildren, Kallie, Taylor, Macie, Mason, Maddux, Anna Grace, Madilee, Macklin, Parker Anne, Bradley Rose, Dane, Prudence, Margaret, and Lucy along with a number of nieces and nephews.
