Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Thursday, April 9, 2020, from Cooks Chapel Cemetery in Neshoba County with Rev. Nels Norris and Rev. Michael Wells officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Fortenberry, 73, of Philadelphia, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, surrounded by family. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Forestdale Community in Neshoba County. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed horse racing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Fortenberry; son, Kenith Fortenberry (Leslie); daughter, Marsha Ward (Bo); grandchildren, Summar Irons (Seth), Chloe Pinter, Brody Pinter, Chandler Fortenberry, Cayla Fortenberry, Krystal Ward, and Taylor Vickers (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Fletcher Irons; sister, Elizabeth Paris of Southaven; family friend, Steve Page and son, Will. Mr. Fortenberry was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Martha Fortenberry; brothers, Theodore, Junior, John, and J. D. Fortenberry; sisters, Bobbie Stovall and Mary Lewis. The family would like to thank Quality Hospice and their staff for the love, care, and devotion. Pallbearers are Brody Pinter, Chandler Fortenberry, Seth Irons, Dean Heffernan, Derek Davis, and Will Page. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to be made to St. Jude, Shriners Children Hospitals, or charity of choice.
