Henry D. Powell

Graveside services for Henry D. Powell will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 3 pm from Mt Carmel Cemetery with Rev. Mack Alford officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 1:30 pm until departure for cemetery at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Powell, 75, of Brandon, MS, died Sunday, November 28, 2021. Mr. Powell was a native of Magee, MS, and raised in the Martinsville Community of Smith County. He was a graduate of White Oak High School in Raleigh, MS. Henry worked as a carpenter for Peoples Construction Company for 30 plus years until he retired and enjoyed hunting and traveling, especially after he retired. Mr. Powell was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sue Powell of Brandon; daughter, Karen Rosamond (Todd) of Jackson; son, Jeff Powell of Brandon; grandchildren, Harlee Freshour (Caleb) and Nick Powell; great-granddaughter, Kaymbrie Freshour; sisters, Virginia Easterling (James Ray) of Raleigh and Kathy Powell; brothers, Robert “R.L.” Powell (Rose) of Raleigh, Joe Powell (Carolyn) of Florence, Jerry Powell (Mary Lou) of Raleigh and Paul Powell (Valerie)of Harleyville, South Carolina and Carl Powell; a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Powell; parents, Gilbert and Wilma Powell; sister, MaryAnn Rushing; brothers, David and James Ray Powell.
