Guy Gray

Funeral services for Guy Gray will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 1 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Wells and Rev. Nels Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Sandtown Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 11 a.m. until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Gray, 89, of Philadelphia died July 29, 2024 at Neshoba County Nursing Home. Guy was a native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County and a graduate from East Neshoba High School and he also served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Africa. After the service he returned home and worked on the dairy farm with his father until he took it over. He also worked spreading fertilizer, lime, commercial bailed hay and gathered seeds for the public. He started flying airplanes as a hobby and became a licensed pilot and then a flight instructor and taught for many years. After he retired from flying, he worked with Gray Brothers Trucking and hauled logs. He loved flying planes when he could and flying his model planes later in life. He loved spending time with his family, friends and enjoyed working with his blue healer cow dogs. Mr. Gray was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and served as a deacon. Survivors include his son, Kent Gray (Vicky) of Philadelphia; granddaughter, Kristen Madison (T.J.) of Philadelphia; great- grandchildren, Zach and Macy Madison; brother, Luke Gray (Hazel) of Philadelphia; a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Gray; great-grandchild, Riley Madison; parents, Earl and Bessie Gray; brothers, Bennie, James, Junior, Sterling and Clifford Gray; sister, Ellen Hall. Pallbearers, Ronald Madison, Joe Mike Stepp, Tony Gray, Trea Herring, Ronnie Gray and Mike Robertson. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Sardis Baptist Church-612 Vardaman Rd.
