Glenda Carol Moore Williamson, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 22, 2025, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at the age of 81.
Glenda was born on August 12, 1943, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to RB. and Bernice Moore. In November 1963, she married Tommy Williamson, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Glenda spent most of her adult life as a devoted wife and mother, while also taking on many of the daily responsibilities of the family beef farm with quiet strength and commitment.
Her life was centered on her relationship with her Savior. The love of Jesus shone through her bright smile and gentle kindness toward everyone she met. A faithful member of Hope Baptist Church, Glenda served as a Youth Bible Drill leader for more than 40 years, joyfully helping young people hide God’s Word in their hearts. She looked forward with hope to the day she would be with her Savior for eternity.
Glenda was also known for her remarkable hospitality and her gift for cooking. She delighted in filling her home with the people she loved—children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends—always eager to serve their favorite foods and create lasting memories around the table. She served the Lord and her family with joy, leaving behind a legacy of love, grace, and unwavering faith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tommy Williamson; her daughters, Alicia Williamson Voge and Polly Ann Williamson; her parents, RB and Bernice Moore; her sister, Evelyn Houston; and her brother, James Moore.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, T.J. and John Shappley; her son-in-law, Brian Voge; her sister, Oneva Rowzee; her brother and sister-in-law, Reuben and Fay Moore; and her sister-in-law, Elaine Moore. Glenda was an adoring grandmother to five grandchildren—Dalton Voge (Lexie), Sabrina Voge, Payton Voge, Will Shappley, and Caroline Shappley—as well as one great-grandchild. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Pallbearers will be Robert Whittle, Todd Winstead, Drew Winstead, Bart Moore, Bryan Moore, David Moore, Will Shappley and Dalton Voge.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Glenda’s honor to the Youth and Children’s Ministry of Hope Baptist Church at 12981 Hwy 488, Philadelphia, MS 39350 or to The ARC of Southeast Mississippi at P.O. Box 18800 Hattiesburg, MS 39404.
