Funeral services for Gilbert Donald will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Curt Pace and Rev. Dr. Tommy Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mr. Donald, 86, of Philadelphia, MS, died Saturday, November 26, 2022, at his home. Mr. Donald was a native and longtime resident of Neshoba County and worked for Weyerhaeuser for over 40 years. After his retirement from Weyerhaeuser, he worked at B & G Wood until he fully retired. He proudly served on the Neshoba County Fair Board for 51 years; and spent the last 11 years as president until he retired in 2021. He was president and chairman of the Harness Racing Committee and was a USTA licensed starter for harness racing. Mr. Donald was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his son, Mike Donald (Kim) of Philadelphia, MS; daughter, Amanda Donald Tyrone (Marty) of Olive Branch, MS; five grandchildren, Rachel Tyrone Lott (Cade), Jake Tyrone, Erin Donald, Andrew Donald, and Olivia Donald; sister, Ramona Adcock (Billy) of Philadelphia, MS; and sister-in-law, Patricia Donald of Philadelphia, MS. Mr. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Cumberland Donald; parents, Harris and Irene Donald; brothers, Shelby Donald and Gene Donald and his wife, Mary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to First United Methodist Church, New Bethel Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice. Serving as pallbearers are Chuck Burk, Andrew Donald, Jake Tyrone, Cade Lott, Chad Grantham, and Danny Howell.
