Gertrude Mckinion

Funeral services for Gertrude McKinion will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10 am from Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. J.R. Eaton, Rev. Brian Linkins and Rev. Tyler Tingle officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5 pm until 8 pm at McClain-Hays Funeral Home and at Antioch Church on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 9 am until service time. Ms. McKinion, 84, of Little Rock, MS, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Ms. Gertrude was a native and lifelong resident of Newton County. She worked at Midland Shirt Factory for several years before becoming the owner & operator of Gert’s Fashion Barn in Union, MS until she retired. She loved flowers and even had hanging pots on her porch, sending cards to people and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very giving and loving person. Ms. McKinion was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Survivors include daughter, Barbara Rigdon (Dennis) of Little Rock, MS; son, Steve McKinion (Wanda) of Little Rock, MS; grandchildren, Abbey Tingle (Tyler) and Anna Pippin (Austin); great-grandchildren, Waylon Pippin and Judah Tingle. Ms. McKinion is preceded in death by husband, Calvin Lamar McKinion; parents, Odell and Nettie Russell; sister, Annie Lee Rucker. Pallbearers include Richard Rucker, Greg Winstead, Kevin McKinion, James "Ike" Rucker, Kenneth McKinion and Keith McKinion. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Rucker and David McKinion.
