Services will be held Sunday, January 31, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from Hopewell United Methodist Church (2241 Hopewell Road) with Rev. Joe Kitchens officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 noon until time of service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Georgie Pilgrim Darnell died Friday, January 29, 2021, at her home. Born on August 13, 1952, she was a native of Kemper County where she lived most of her life. She was married to John Paul Darnell for 49 years where they lived in the Hopewell Community. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. Georgie most enjoyed cooking for her family, spoiling her grandchildren, spending time with her sisters, and going to the Neshoba County Fair with her aunt. She also enjoyed the annual beach trips with the “Frugoos”. Survivors include her husband, John Paul Darnell of Collinsville, MS; daughters, Olivia Darnell Johnson (Scott) of Collinsville, MS, Crystal Darnell Rogers (Shannon) of Pensacola, FL; son, John Alan Darnell of Collinsville, MS; grandchildren, Braylee Johnson, Macee Johnson, Ella Grace Rogers, Coen Rogers, and John Knox Rogers; sisters, Linda Chism of Philadelphia, MS, Kay Fulton of Preston, MS; brother, Billy Wayne Pilgrim of Preston, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Darnell was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Cannon; stepfather, Roy Cannon; sisters, Katherine Hudnall and Carolyn McGowen. Pallbearers are Jason Jolly, Jimmy Wayne McGowen, Joseph McGowen, Shandon Wade Fulton, Tom Jolly, Robert Williams, Stan Copeland, and Mack Holley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or charity of choice.
