A graveside service for Evelyn S. Johnson will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at 11: a. m. from Old Pearl Valley Cemetery with Rev. Wade Chappell officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Johnson, 97, of Philadelphia, died Monday, August 17, 2020, at the Neshoba County Nursing Home. A longtime resident of the Arlington Community in Neshoba County, she was a retired supervisor from Wells-Lamont, loved crafts, art and gardening. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Old Pearl Valley Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, and also a member of WMU. Survivors include two sons, Bobby (Christine) Johnson and Don Johnson, both of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Morrise Johnson, Tony Johnson, Angelia James, and Haden Johnson; great-grandchildren, Brayden Johnson, Hunter James, and Ashlyn James; two sisters-in-law, Jewel Sistrunk and Maria Sistrunk; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by husband, John A. Johnson; son, John Dee Johnson; sister, Cloteel Purvis; brothers, Earl, Glidell, James, Tommy, and Derwood Sistrunk. Pallbearers are Morrise Johnson, Tony Johnson, Haden Johnson, Shannon James, Hunter James, Ashlyn James, and Jamye Sistrunk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Old Pearl Valley Cemetery Fund.
