Eugene "Rooster" Eakes

Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. from McClain Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Eakes, 59, of DeKalb died Saturday, June 1, 2024. Rooster was born and raised in Kemper County on Big Eakes road and attended West Kemper School. He was a syrup distributor for several years for a number of companies. Rooster as he was known by all, loved people, socializing and riding the roads. He never met a stranger and will be missed by many. Mr. Eakes attended Light House Church in DeKalb. Survivors include his sisters, Betty Luke of Bailey, MS and Margaret McDonald of Livingston, AL; several nieces, nephews, loved ones and many, many friends. Mr. Eakes was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Gene and Cora Eakes; sister, Judy Spears; brother, Ricky Eakes.
