Services for Ellene Speir Turcotte will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Philadelphia with Rev. Evan Humphries officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 at 10:00 am at the church. Graveside service will be held at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, MS on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 3:00 pm with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Mrs. Turcotte, 89, passed away August 26, 2024 at Winston County Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, MS. She was born in Sikes, LA (Winn Parish) and was a graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS. After high school she attended Gilfoy School of Nursing at the Baptist hospital in Jackson and received her RN degree in 1956. Her areas of employment included a thoracic surgery assistant, school nurse, pediatric nurse and home health nurse. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and devoted many years to service in the children's ministry. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Robert E. "Bob" Turcotte of Philadelphia; daughter, Jean Marie Turcotte Walls (Mark) of Jackson, TN; son, Robert E. "Bert" Turcotte (Sharon) of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Jonathan Mark Edward Walls (Tiffany), Evan Andrew Turcotte Walls, Owen Robert Turcotte (Jasmine) and Matthew Lee Turcotte (Kaitlin) and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joesph Conner and Velma McCarty Speir and a sister, Connie Mae Gregory. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia, MS, MS College Scholarship Fund or the MS Baptist Children's Village.
