Elizabeth Hanks Mcmillan

Funeral services for Elizabeth Hanks McMillan will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 2 p.m. from New Harmony Baptist Church with Jacob Harthcock officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 12 noon until service time at the church. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McMillan, 87, of Carthage, MS died Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Elizabeth was born in Gilbert, LA to Giles and Viola Hanks. She attended Gilbert High School where she was a cheerleader and then attended the University of LA in Monroe. She was a ballroom dancer and also taught ballroom dance lessons and loved to score the dances on Dancing with the Stars T.V. show. Elizabeth was a social butterfly and dearly loved her grandchildren and to spoil them. “Hanks” as she was fondly known loved to care for family and friends and would come at a moment’s notice.  Mrs. McMillan was a longtime member of New Harmony Baptist Church. She will be missed by all.

Survivors include her husband, Jack M. McMillan of Carthage; daughter, Connie Harthcock (Brad) of Carthage; son, Jack L. McMillan (Chris) of Madison; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Harthcock, Christopher McMillan, Nick McMillan (Summer) and Jacob Harthcock (Kristin); great-grandchild, Lucy McMillan; sister, Mary Calhoun Barfield; several nieces, nephews and their families.

Mrs. McMillan was preceded in death by her son, Giles Riley McMillan; parents, Giles and Viola Hanks; sister, Shirley Sims.

Pallbearers will be Charlie McMillan, Carson McMillan, Cody Reeves, Jesse Reeves, Linc McMillan, Aaron Bradley, Caleb Bradley and Ethan Pendergrass.

In lieu of flowers family requests all memorials be made to American Heart Association or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
