Elizabeth "Betty" Richardson

Family to have a memorial service at a later date. Mrs. Richardson, 71 of Philadelphia, died December 31, 2022. Home and family were Betty’s highest values and priorities her whole life. She loved her family and friends dearly and fought difficult health issues for many years to be able to stay connected to them. She graduated from French Camp Academy High School in 1970 and got her B.S. degree in Library Science from Mississippi State University in 1974 and her Master’s degrees in Library Science and in Computer Technology also from MSU. She worked her entire career as an educator in the Moss Point School District (beginning at Ed Mayo Junior High and moving on to the high school) as librarian and Media Specialist. She taught photography and supported student activities such as the yearbook, cheerleaders and all the athletics her husband coached. Betty loved to read and worked for Walden books for a number of years as a book seller and was an avid MSU athletics and Dallas Cowboys fan, she was rooting for those teams till the very end of her life. Survivors include daughter, Emily Richardson McGriff and granddaughter Zoey McGriff of Philadelphia, MS; son, Wade Richardson (Sherry) and grandchildren, Austin, Justin and Karleigh Richardson, and Chance Dearman all of Ocean Springs, MS and Lauren (Trey) Porter of Hurley, MS; great-grandchildren, Max, Maverick and Manning Porter of Hurley, MS; sister, Pam Fell (Roger Wester); nieces, Ashley Patel and Megan Thompson of Florida; lifelong friend, Jeanne Forrester Vosburgh. Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald (Ron or Coach) Richardson; parents, Wade Hampton Link and Emily Bertha Link; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Richardson. Betty spent the majority of her childhood and teen years at French Camp Academy boarding school (FCA) and was a faithful alumni for life. FCA advertises that no child is denied a home or education due to a lack of resources.
