Eldora Oliphant Saunders

Memorial service were held for Eldora Oliphant Saunders on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Cedarlawn Cemetery with Dr. Dan Howard officiating.  Eldora was born on November 4, 1927, in Philadelphia, MS, to Vaxti and Tarris P. Oliphant, Sr. She graduated from Philadelphia High School where she was selected as Miss PHS.  She attended Millsaps College and later in life received her LPN degree from Meridian Junior College. She lived her life in Philadelphia, MS, Meridian, MS, and in 1989 moved to Melbourne, Florida, where she married her husband Chuck Saunders.  Eldora enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved music and could play the piano by ear.  She especially enjoyed helping others in their time of need. She is survived by her husband, Charles H. “Chuck” Saunders of Melbourne, FL, two sons, Ken (Judy) McKay of Germantown, TN, and Mark (Karen) McKay of Philadelphia, MS; one brother, Sonny (Carol) Oliphant of Philadelphia, MS; five grandchildren, Ryan (Candace) McKay and Misty McKay of Philadelphia, MS, Michelle (Chris) Warren and Marlow (Jeff) Harris of Collierville, TN, and Courtney (Ryan) Neal of Nashville, TN; six great-grandchildren, Laney Turner, Reese McKay and Kennedy McKay of Philadelphia, MS, Levi Warren, Summer Warren and Tucker Harris of Collierville, TN; stepchildren, Brent (Laurie) Saunders of Merritt Island, FL, Ted (Janet) Saunders of Waxhaw, NC, Jean (Randy) Crowder of Pensacola, FL, and their families. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 414 Pecan Ave, Philadelphia MS 39350, or to a favorite charity.
