Services for Dr. James Lamar Burt will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 1 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Nathan Moore officiating . Burial will follow in North Bend Methodist Cemetery in Neshoba County.  Visitation will be held Wednesday at McClain-Hays Funeral Home from 11 a. m. until time of service.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.   Dr. James Lamar Burt, age 69, of Philadelphia, MS, passed from this life on Monday, April 22, 2019, at Merit Health Central in Jackson.  He was born June 2, 1949, and raised in the North Bend Community of Neshoba County.  He married the love of his life, Peggy A. Burt, in 1994. Dr. James Lamar Burt did his premed at Mississippi State University and received his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medical from Auburn University in 1973.  He worked for USDA over 35 years as a Deputy District Director for the States of Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama.  Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of over 24 years, Peggy A. Burt of Jackson; brother, John Pat Burt (Betty) of Temple, TX; beloved nephews, Ronnie (Lin Harper) Blackwell of Hattiesburg, James “Randy” (Sharon) Blackwell of Richmond, TX, Henry (Wanda) Blackwell of Hattiesburg, Kenneth “Kenny” Blackwell of Hattiesburg, MS, Brian Patrick Burt of Round Rock, TX, Roary Wilder (Carmen) of Atlanta, GA; great-nieces, Whitney Blackwell of San Ramon, CA; Jennifer Blackwell Pierpont of Baytown, TX, Lauren M. Wilder of Atlanta, GA and Madison Blackwell of Petal, MS; great-nephews, Ryan Blackwell of Houston, TX, Robbie Blackwell of Hattiesburg, MS; numerous other great-nieces and nephews and their families; devoted first cousin, Allen (Judy) Pettey of Philadelphia;  and their children, Michael Petty of Philadelphia and Melanie Pettey (Stuart) Waddell of Noxapater; devoted sister-in-laws, Erma Conaway Taylor (Dr. Juel Taylor) of Mobile, AL; and Sonya Conaway Daniel of Mobile, AL and devoted brother-in-law, Lawrence Conaway of  Mobile, AL.  Devoted extended family Gladys and Willie Whitten of Southhaven, MS. Dr. Burt was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Kilpatrick Burt and father, John L. Burt; sister, Mary Faye Blackwell and husband Prentiss; and infant sister, Janice Loy Burt. Pallbearers are Randy Blackwell, Allen Pettey, Dr. Duane Stokes, Bunkie Smith, Jim Johnson and Michael Pettey.
