Dorothy Burt Cumberland

Services for Dorothy Burt Cumberland will be held Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Hubert Yates and Rev. Wesley Lovern officiating. Burial will follow in Bond Baptist Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cumberland, 87, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020. She was a native and longtime resident of the Bond Community in Neshoba County. She retired from Neshoba Central after teaching for 43 years, and was a yearbook sponsor for many years. She loved farming after retirement. Mrs. Cumberland was a member of Bond Baptist Church and loved teaching the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Cooking and spending time with her extended family was a favorite activity. Survivors include daughter, Bobbie Ann Barrier (Mitchell) of Philadelphia, MS; son, Bill Cumberland of Indian Land, SC; granddaughter, Whitney Barrier Brock (Jonathan) of Vicksburg, MS; great-grandson, John Robert Brock; brothers, Floyd Burt and William “Bob” Burt, both of Philadelphia; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Cumberland was preceded in death by husband, Bob Cumberland; daughter, Vickie Cumberland; parents, J. B. and Bobbie Burt; two brothers, Jerry Burt and Harold Burt.
