Services for Mr. Dorman Pope will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2 pm from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Chris Young officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 12 noon until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pope, 88, of Philadelphia died Thursday, March 5, 2020 at his home. He was a native of Arlington Community of Neshoba County and longtime resident of Philadelphia. He retired after 30 years from U.S. Motors of Philadelphia and had coached High School Football at Philadelphia High School with Coach Bobby Glen Posey. He was involved in the timber and cattle industry. Mr. Dorman was a member of The First United Methodist Church and a mason. He served in The U.S. Navy. He loved fishing and was known for his Fish Fry’s and Stews. Survivors include his sons, Ted (Patty) Pope of Philadelphia and Ed (Laura) Pope of Meridian; daughter, Jessica (William) Hubbard of Starkville; grandchildren, Dylan Pope, Brandon Pope, Mitchell Ty May, Savannah and Kyle Hubbard; caregiver, Frances Hamilton. Preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Pope; parents, J.E. and Ola Pope. In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to The First United Methodist Church, Philadelphia, MS or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
