Mazell Watkins

Services for Mazell Watkins will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. from Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Walton officiating.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until time of service.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Watkins, 97, of Meridian, died Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Neshoba General Hospital. She was a native of the House Community in Neshoba County and a longtime resident of Meridian.  She was a retired cost accountant for Meridian Credit Union.  Mrs. Watkins was a member of Northpark Church of God in Meridian.  She was a great cook and immaculate housekeeper.  She loved yard work and sewing.  Survivors include daughter, Alinda Richie (Jim) of Meridian; granddaughter, Kathy Ross (Ernie) of Meridian; great-granddaughter, Michelle Cantorna (David) of Pensacola, FL; two great-great grandchildren, Brooklee Carlton and Kaleb Cantorna, both of Pensacola; sisters, Lillian Rickles and Nanette Winstead, both of House; brothers, Buddy Joyner of Dallas, Jessie “Junior” Joyner, Jr. of House and Billy Joyner of House; numerous nieces, nephews and their families.  Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks O. Watkins; parents, Quinn and Iva Mae Reynolds Joiner; brother, Arlo Joiner; and grandson, Scott Richie. Pallbearers are Billy Land, Everett Rickles, Danny Joyner, Mike Joyner, Markey Joiner, Sam Isom, Chad Isom, and Mason Griffin.  Honorary pallbearer is Dennis Joyner.
