Diane Johnson

January 10, 1953 — April 16, 2025

Mary Diane Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love and kindness. A native of Neshoba County, Mississippi, she graduated from Neshoba Central High School in 1971 and later earned her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse from East Central Community College. After a fulfilling career, she retired in 2016.

Mary was known for her sweet spirit and her dedication to helping others. She enjoyed singing in church, working on word searches, watching game shows, and indulging in Door Dash. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren: Luke, Ryan, and Summer Harper.

She is survived by her daughter, Sondra Harper (Brian) Childress; son, Eric (Ashley) Johnson; sister, Gwen Welburn; brothers, Dewayne and Danny Matthews; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Steven Harper; her parents, Rudolph and Grace Matthews; and her sister, Beverly Matthews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Rev. Mack Alford will officiate. All friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate her life. Mary Diane Johnson will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
