Services for Diane Ishie Howell will be held Thursday, September 19, 2019, at 3 p.m. from Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Caldwell, Rev. Allen Gibson and Rev. Lynn McRaney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 1 p.m. until time of service. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Howell, 72, of Kemper County, died Monday, September 16, 2019. She was a native of Kemper County and a longtime resident of the Damascus Community. She was a retired beautician. Mrs. Howell was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she served as church treasurer and church delegate. She was a member of the Damascus Community Center and a member of the Cleveland Bar-B-Q Club. Survivors include her husband, Bill Howell of DeKalb; daughter, Shelia Mattar (Michael) of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Fallon Goings (Steve) and Dean Mattar (Bailey); great-grandchildren; Allison Alford, Madison Goings, Marley Rose Goings, Ely Goings, Shelby Goings, Kaeson Mattar and Jenley Mattar; sister, Dwala Ishie of Bailey; brother, Rickey Ishie of DeKalb; and several nieces, nephews and their families. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by great-grandson, Kameryn Mattar; parents, Jake and Ruth Ishie; sister, Nancy Byrd; and brothers, Percy “Shorty” Ishie and Norman Ishie. Pallbearers are Michael Miller, Henry Eldridge, Raymond Hudnell, Roger Hagan, Bennie Jolly and Leon Jolly. Honorary pallbearer is Gerald Houser.
