Graveside services will be held for Delbert Franklin Gheen, Sr., on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. from White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Neshoba County with Bro. David Richardson, Bro. Tony Roberts and Wayne Phillips officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gheen, 79, of Meridian, died Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Centreville, VA, and was raised in the Manassas Centreville Area. He joined the U. S. Air Force when he was seventeen where he began his career as an airplane mechanic. After his service career he met and married his late wife, Alma Fay. They moved back to Mississippi and started his business, Gheen Automotive, from which he eventually retired. He worked a short while offshore as a crane mechanic during this time. Mr. Gheen was a member of Bethlehem Pentecostal Church. Survivors include daughters, Robin Leach (James) of Carthage, Rhonda Ballenger (Brian) of Collinsville, Penny Hopkins of Carthage; son, David Gheen of Carthage; grandchildren, James Morgan Leach, Jr., Jeffie-Elizabeth Robin Leach, Brandon Lee Ballenger, Brianne Ballenger Buck (Levi), Dannie Lea Hopkins and Ian Hopkins; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosie Stevens of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Gheen was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Fay Gheen; son, Delbert Franklin Gheen, Jr.; two granddaughters, Tiffany Isabella Leach and Stephanie Elizabeth Leach; parents, Arthur and Lucy Gheen; brothers, Arthur Franklin Gheen, and Michael Leon Gheen.
