Funeral services for Mr. Delane George will be held Monday, June 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from Big Oak United Methodist Church, Kemper County, with Bro. Ben Jones and Bro. Davey Wilkinson officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be at Big Oak United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. George, age 76, of DeKalb, MS, passed from this life to his eternal home with Jesus on June 17, 2021, at home with his family. He was an active member of Big Oak United Methodist Church. A lifelong resident of Kemper County, he graduated from DeKalb High School and attended East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba, MS. He served in the Mississippi National Guard. He began his career with Southern Pipe in Meridian, MS, and later founded George’s Auto Parts at DeKalb in 1979. He loved spending time with family and doing what he loved the most, which was bush hogging and using his bulldozer on a Saturday at the cabin. Survivors include his wife of almost 54 years, Martha George; daughter, Alexa Ferguson (Richard) of DeKalb, MS; son, Alex George (Denise) of DeKalb, MS; grandchildren, Kaylee Ferguson, Kameron Ferguson, Peyton George and Paxton George; brother, Jeff George (Teresa); brother-in-law, Ivan Atkinson; a host of nieces and nephews and their families; and his beloved dog Maks. Preceding Mr. George in death were his father, Thurman George; mother, Ethel George; and sister, Jeanette Atkinson. Pallbearers are Casey Atkinson, Kameron Ferguson, Paxton George, Wyatt Salisbury, Jerry George, Jeff Goodwin, Curt Skipper, and Jackie McKee. Honorary pallbearers are Peyton George, Sam Eakes, Roy Partridge, and Corey Blakely.
