Services for Dean Allen will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. C.J. Caufield officiating. Burial will follow in Clarkes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Dean, 87, of DeKalb, Ms, died Tuesday, July 30, 2019. He was a native of Kemper County and longtime resident of Cleveland Community and a retired logger. Former owner and operator of Allen Logging since 1953 and was awarded Mississippi Logging Association “Logger of the Year” in 1996. Mr. Allen was a member of Clarks Chapel Methodist Church. Survivors include son, Joe Allen (Ann) of Dekalb; daughter, Martha Scarbrough (Wendell) of Preston; grandchildren, D.J. Allen of Odessa, Tex, Melinda Hoffman (Kyle) of Fairhope, Al, Ashley Gordon (Chris) of DeKalb, Allen Scarbrough (Nicole) of Philadelphia, Ethan Scarbrough (Adrienne) of DeKalb; great-grandchildren, Kayley, Briley and Liam Hoffman, Taylor and Tristin Gordon, Lane, Peyton, Chris and Trey Scarbrough; sister, Barbara Vick of DeKalb; brother, Kenneth Allen (Roma) of Preston; a number of nieces and nephews and their families. Preceded in death by his wife, Emily Allen; parents, Willie and Gordie Allen; brother, Joe Glenn Allen. Memorials may be made to Gideons International or your favorite charity.
