A private memorial service will be held for David Allen Lauderdale from Crossway Community Church with Rev. Chris Vowell and Rev. Nathan Nedopak officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. David Allen Lauderdale passed away suddenly, guitar in hand, doing what he loved, on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, from an apparent pulmonary embolism. He was 39. David was born on March 14, 1981, in McComb, MS. His loving family and springtime welcomed his arrival. David was a musician from the very beginning. By his third Christmas he had already asked for a violin, and soon thereafter received his first real guitar. He later played trombone in the Pride of Philadelphia Marching Band. While in high school he formed his first rock band. He also played linebacker for the Tornadoes and received Best Defensive Player Award. During college David played lead guitar with numerous bands in many venues across Mississippi. Among these were Don’s Chuck Wagon, The Latelys, and Shine-Dalgarno. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from USM. Following college, David continued his musical endeavors. He taught private guitar lessons, played at weddings and funerals, and performed with numerous bands. These included Mississippi New Red Sand, All Around Hounds, Self Made Fools, Amy Lott and Company, and Bohemian Groove. Also during this time he worked as a staffing agent for Manpower of Meridian and TPM Staffing Services in Denver, Colorado. David was passionate about getting his more than one hundred songs recorded. This life goal was achieved through his partnership with friend, Travis Allard, under the label D. L. Sewing Machine Records. David was a loving son, brother, and father; a playmate to his nephews, and a friend to everyone he met along his way. He was a man of faith, worshipping at Crossway Community Church at the time of his death. He is survived by his daughters, Olivia and Maggie Lauderdale; mother and stepfather, Cynthia and Mike case; sisters, Sarah Tyler (Andrew) and Liza Parsons (Cade); and nephews, Pearce Tyler and Arlo Parsons. David was preceded in death by father, Bill Lauderdale; grandparents, Pearce and Eliza Phillips, and William and Peggy Lauderdale. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the service will be private. A memorial fund for his children has been established at The Citizens Bank.
