Danny M. Breland

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from McClain-Hays Chapel with visitation beginning on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in the House community. Bro. Len Wedgeworth and Bro. Mike Skinner to officiate. Danny Melton Breland entered this world April 18, 1952, and considered House Community to be his home for his entire life. After graduating from Neshoba Central High School, he earned a degree from Mississippi State University in Industrial Engineering. He would go on to devote 33 years of hard work and dedication to Weyerhaeuser Lumber Mill in Philadelphia, MS. In addition to his career, Danny excelled in his personal life as he was a faithful and caring son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather, as well as a loving husband for 26 years. Anyone who knew him knows that there was nothing he cherished more than spending quality time with his loved ones. This passion of his took many forms: hosting family and community campouts (never complete without his famous stew), squirrel hunting and fishing with his grandchildren, leading local wagon trains for close friends and extended family, and bringing people laughter through his characteristic joking and story-telling. He loved spending time, too, working his land on his tractor, and he never hesitated to serve anyone in need of it. He also was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church where he routinely sought the Lord who peacefully relieved him of his struggle with cancer on the afternoon of August 16, 2023. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Jane Breland. Survivors include the following: Wife of 26 years, Kim Weaver Breland; Children: Danielle McNeil (Carl) and Morgan Hamm (Jeremy); Grandchildren: Shelby, Logan, and Lexi Barrett; Brennon and Charli Kate Hamm; Siblings: Joanne Clarke (late Stewart Lollar), Randy Breland (Johnanna), and Patty Cherry (Benny); Numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews. Pallbearers will be Carl McNeil, Logan Barrett, Jeremy Hamm, Brennon Hamm, Ky Reynolds, Benny Cherry, Joe Breland and Shannon Breland. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Goforth, Steve Beason, Jamie Moore, Vic Wedgeworth, Wayne Comans, Charlie Weaver and Steve Winstead.
