Services for Cora “Sissy” Eakes will be Monday, May 24, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Bennie Alford officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Burial will follow in McLain Chapel Cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Eakes, 85, of Kemper County, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Rush Hospital in Meridian. A native of Neshoba County, she was a resident of Kemper County for most of her life. She was a member of Christian Life Apostolic Church in Kemper County. Survivors include daughters, Betty Luke (John D.) of Bailey, Margaret McDonald of Livingston, AL; sons, Ricky Eakes (Lisa), Eugene Eakes, both of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Randall Eakes, Walt McDonald; great-grandson, Walt McDonald; sister, Bobbie Shoemaker of Forest; a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding Mrs. Eakes in death were husband, Bobby Gene Eakes; and daughter, Peggy Eakes. Pallbearers are John D. Luke, Walt McDonald, Jerry Pilgrim, Jeffrey Pilgrim, and Jonathan Pilgrim.
