Services for Christene Winstead will be held Sunday, September 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Billy James and Rev. Lawrence Runnells officiating. Burial will follow in Bethsaida Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be held Sunday from 12 noon until service time. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Winstead, 90, of Union, died Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at J. G. Alexander in Union. A native and lifelong resident of Neshoba County, she graduated from House School. She worked and retired from U. S. Motors in Philadelphia. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking at home. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Winstead was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church. Survivors include sons, Marshal Winstead (Emily) of Philadelphia, Ricky Winstead (Melinda) of Hattiesburg, David Winstead (Pam) of Union; eight grandchildren, Brad Winstead (Tiffany), Brant Winstead (Leaha), Brook Addy (Jody), Derek Winstead (Lauren), Russell Winstead, Jennifer Cook (Andrew), Michelle Alawine (Tony), Caitlin Cauley (Kevin); 13 great-grandchildren, Aubry Winstead, Riley Winstead, Ben Winstead, Eli Winstead, Jeb Addy, Hank Addy, Claire Winstead, Davis Winstead, Maddie Cook, JonTyler Cook, Samuel Alawine, Jack Alawine, Cooper Cauley; sister, Linda Mowdy of Union; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ms. Winstead was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Norman Winstead; granddaughter, Amanda Skye Winstead; sisters, Martha Jane Williams, Myverne Shannon; brothers, W. M., H. M., Cletus, and Carson Mowdy. Pallbearers are Brad Winstead, Brant Winstead, Derek Winstead, Russell Winstead, Andrew Cook, Tony Alawine, Jody Addy, Kevin Cauley. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
