Charley Therrell, age 77, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2019, at Saint Thomas West Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Charley was a devout Catholic, attending Saint Regina's Catholic Church in Parsons, TN, at the time of his death.Charley was born in Philadelphia, MS, educated in the public schools, attended Mississippi State University, and in 1962 began a career as a sales agent in automotive and industrial tools and equipment until his retirement in 1998.His first love was Harness Horse Racing. Charley was involved in harness racing for 10 years, including owning and driving Harness horses. Charley then became "The Voice" of the Neshoba County Fair as Harness Race Announcer for 40 years in Philadelphia, MS, and at the Lincoln County Fair in Fayetteville, TN, for 45 years. Charley loved Mississippi State University sports and road-trips with his wife, Su. He also enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Neri Therrell; brother, Jim Therrell; nephew, Matt Therrell; and wife of 45 years, Nancy Therrell.Charley is survived by his wife, Su Therrell of Sugar Tree, TN; son, Todd Therrell (Kelly) of Madison, MS; daughters, Mary Ann Martin (Chris Hester) of Thompson's Station, TN, Lisa Downs (Jimmy) of Huntsville, AL, Emily Havens (Lee) of Cleveland, MS, Pam Tvrdik (Dave LeBarre) of Destin, FL; grandchildren, Kate and Grayson Therrell, Jax and Charlie Martin, Ethan, Abby, and Emma Hester, Callie Downs Bush (Jonathan) of Seattle, WA, Harrison Downs Wood (Wilks) of Raleigh, NC, and William, Elizabeth Gray, and Anna Patrick Havens; sister, Marlene Collins of Danville, KY, sister-in-law, Geraldine Therrell of Philadelphia, MS; nieces, Stacie Therrell Weir of Philadelphia, MS, Callie Collins, Alex Weir Leming (Blake) of Virginia Beach, VA; and nephew, Matt Weir.Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 24, at Parsons Mortuary from 4:30 P.M. - 6:30 P.M. in Parsons, TN.Visitation will also be held in Philadelphia, MS, at McClain-Hays Funeral Home on Thursday, September 26 from 10:30 A.M. until service time at 1 p.m. in the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home.
