It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Cecelia Dean Stokes, who passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the age of 87. Celia lived a full life filled with family and food. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed soaking up time with them. These visits were usually fulfilling to the heart and stomach. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. When she wasn’t focused on visiting with family, Celia spent time in the company of her faithful Boston Terrier, Toby. He has kept her safe, entertained, and loved for his entire 9 years of life. Toby stayed by her side every moment of the day until her last. She loved tending to her garden, reading books, and crocheting, all of which she passed down a love for to her children and grandchildren. She is reunited with her father and mother, Cortez and Jewel Elliott; husband, Buddy Stokes; children, Raymond Phillips and Alta Robin Stokes; and granddaughter, Dana Hayes. She is survived by her children, Sheila Stokes of Union, Tonia Coker (Victor) of Newton, Tina Miles (Scott) of Wiggins and Aaron Stokes of Union; five grandchildren, Brian and Presli Stokes, Robin Lenox (Matthew), Nicholas and Nathaniel Coker; and five great-grandchildren, Aubrey Kate and Macy Brooke Hayes, Everett and Waylon Smith and Elliott "Ellie" Stokes; one brother, Gerald Elliott (Joyce) of Union. Our family would like to extend a special recognition of appreciation to Rachel Rogers, RN, Amanda Keeton, RN, and Krystal Seals, CNA, with AccentCare Hospice of Philadelphia, MS for their care, guidance, and encouragement. Pallbearers, Nicholas Coker, Victor Coker, Scott Miles, Joey Hayes, Brian Stokes and Matthew Lenox. Honorary Pallbearers, James “Bubba” Stokes, Milton Savell, Melton Savell and Billy Stokes
