Funeral services for Cecil W. Davis will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. at McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Les Ferguson, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Edinburg Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 12 noon until service time at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Davis 83, of Carthage, died Monday, March 15, 2021. He was born in Texas and lived most of his life in Pasadena, TX. He was a graduate of Missouri City High School and attended Wharton Jr. College and played basketball on a scholarship. He worked on several gas jobs and construction work until finally settling on a job with Houston Utilities as a lineman for 32 years before moving back to MS in 1995. He loved to garden, woodworking and was master of all trades. He loved his grandchildren dearly and his dachshund ”Sassy”. Mr. Davis was a member of Kosciusko Church of Christ and he was a true Christian man. Survivors include his wife, Lena P. Davis; daughter, Selena Spears (David); sons, Cecil Ray Davis and Mark W. Davis; grandsons, Jordan Davis (Mallory) and Nicholas Spears; granddaughter, Melissa Spears; brother-in-laws, David, Glen and Charles Ellingburg; sister-in-laws, Gertrude Herrington, Catherine Adkins and Marie Pilgrim; several nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Myrtle Davis; sisters, Dorothy Bosak, Juanita Facenier and Betty Jo Shoemake; brothers, Monroe Fletcher Davis, Jr., Elbert Lee Davis and Bobby Ray Davis. Pallbearers are David Ellingburg, Glen Ellingburg, David Spears, Tommy Rigby, Andy Wood and Dylan Hill.
