Funeral services for Catherine Adkins will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Dudley Winstead officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery in Neshoba County. Visitation will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Mrs. Adkins, 85, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at her home. She was a native and longtime resident of the Good Hope community. She retired from Wells-Lamont in Philadelphia and was a dairy farmer with her husband Joel. Mrs. Adkins was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church where she served as church clerk for 41 years and also served on the kitchen and cemetery committees. Survivors include sons, Larry (Belynda) Adkins of Philadelphia, Terry (Teresa) Adkins of Philadelphia, and Donnie (Tammy) Adkins of DeKalb; grandchildren, Gordon (Cindy) Adkins, Katie (Joey) Monday, Tyler (Emily) Adkins, Trent (Bailey) Adkins, Emily (Jason) Smith, William (Alena) Adkins, Kelsey (Jeffery) Watkins, and Brandon (Hannah) McMahan; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gertrude Herrington and Lena Pearl Davis; brothers, Charles, Glen and David Ellingburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, and their families. Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband Joel; parents, Pearl and Luther Ellingburg; sisters, Louise Cumberland and Marie Pilgrim; and brothers, Leslie and Pete Ellingburg.
