Mrs. Covington, or Nanny and Nana as she was affectionately called, had a deep love for her family. She had a calm, sweet spirit and loved spending time with them. She also loved her Lord and her church family dearly. She served others with a faithful servant’s heart for many years. She had a love for cooking and gardening, and she loved beautiful flowers. She found joy in life’s simple blessings like watching hummingbirds frequent her porches. She will be dearly missed, but her family rejoices in knowing that she has life everlasting through her faith in Jesus Christ. Mrs. Covington is survived by two sons, Robert Covington (Ben), and Stanley Covington (Valerie); and one daughter, Belinda Johnson (Mike); one brother, Ray Rigdon. She had three grandchildren whom she adored, Brandi Covington Hansford (Tyler), Phillip Johnson (Jailine), and Cole Johnson. She also had two great grandchildren, Camryn Hansford and Cora Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Mr. James Earl “Shorty” Covington; parents Virgil and Madie Rigdon; one brother, Earl Rigdon; and two sisters, Evelyn “Tootsie” Miller and Bonnie Mabry. Pallbearers are Chuck Butler, Dewayne Butler, David Butler, Mike Miller, Jimmy Rigdon, and Virgil Rigdon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Antioch Baptist Church youth fund. Antioch Baptist Church 12150 Road 298 Union, MS 39365.
