Carolyn Jayroe Bates

Services for Carolyn Jayoe Bates will be held Friday, March 2, 2018, at 1 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Billy James and Rev. Lawrence Runnels officiating.   Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Bethsaida Cemetery in Neshoba County.  Mrs. Bates, 82, died Monday, February 26, 2018, at her home.  A native and longtime resident of Neshoba County, she was co-owner of B & G Equipment, Inc.  Mrs. Bates was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church where she served on the Sanctuary Renovation Team.  She played basketball at House High School and loved watching her children and grandchildren play basketball. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, W. J. Bates of Philadelphia; children, Doug Bates (Cynthia), Debbie Webb (Stan), Tammy Lee (Jeff), all of Philadelphia, and Melissa Kelley (Rodney) of Petal, MS; grandchildren, Brandi Smith (Jessie), Matt Bates (Reagan) of Hattiesburg; Justin Webb (Mandy), Chris Webb (Kristen), Kade Webb (Meghan), Richard Lee (Robbyn), Hannah Johnson (Allen), Chelsae Kelley of Brandon, MS, Lindsey Kelley of Hattiesburg; great-grandchildren, Kooper Smith, Kadence Smith, Carter Bates, Connor Webb, Cameron Webb, Brayden Webb, Bennett Webb, Kyndall Lee, Karoline Lee, Beckett Johnson and Emmi Johnson; brothers and sisters, Nita Myers of Philadelphia, MS,  Faye Sullivan of Daphne, AL, Walker L. (Bud) Jayroe of Picayune, MS, Mary Nicholson (Dewayne) of Philadelphia, MS, and Aaron Jayroe of Philadelphia, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews and their families. Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her father, William Walker Jayroe, mother, Zexa Tolbert Jayroe, and sisters, Rose Grantham and Brenda Brown. Pallbearers are Justin Webb, Chris Webb, Kade Webb, Richard Lee, Jessie Smith, Matt Bates, Allen Johnson and Chad Grantham.
