Services for Bobbie Ruth Anthony will be held Friday, March 11, 2022, at 2:00 p. m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Bros. Mark Cloys and Jeff Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Tucker Cemetery in Kemper County. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Ms. Anthony, 86, of Preston, MS, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. She was born in Lauderdale County, lived in Philadelphia until 1950, then moved to Preston where she resided until her death. Bobbie began a 29-year career at NAS Meridian in 1974 where she served the U. S. Navy as a civilian employee. The last 14 years of her career were spent as an administrative assistant at Naval Technical Training Center. She was well known for her accuracy, attention to detail, corporate memory, integrity and professionalism. After her retirement in 2002, she found her home with the McClain-Hays family where she worked as an administrative assistant for over 16 years before her final retirement in May 2018. She was involved in Kemper/Neshoba Counties with children/youth where she taught them in Sunday School, Discipleship Training and Bible Drills. She was a member of East Philadelphia Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Joyce Cain (Doug) and Norma Massey (Donny); grandchildren, Amber Borden (Clay), Brian Bottcher (Jen), Leah Massey, Mark Bottcher and Olivia Massey; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nephews, Paul Hanser (Donna) and Larry Perry (Mari). She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Wiley and Ethel Myers Akins; husband, Welton Anthony; sister, Lucy Hoke; and niece, Eldora Gibson. At Bobbie’s request, memorials may be made to: East Philadelphia Baptist Church Bus Fund, P. O. Box 304, Philadelphia, MS 39350. Pallbearers are Jackie Branning, Malcolm Hailey, Randy Hearn, Don Smith, William Smith, and Kenneth Wright.
